Over the past weekend, many of the strongest Powerlifters in the country gathered together at Cornerstone College in Pretoria to find out who was the strongest at the Rhino Powerlifting Club National Championships. Powerlifting involves three separate movements which are namely the squat, bench and deadlift. The heaviest of each of these lifts is added together to determine who wins their category. Rhino Powerlifting Club (RPC) ensured that all of the criteria were in place for South African Powerlifters to break official GPC World Records here at home. This meant that RPC had to fly out the GPC Technical Director, Gerry McNamara from Ireland to officiate and oversee that the competition was up to standard. The result was that many of our lifters broke official World and National Records.
