Santa Maria

I went on a short holiday to Santa Maria in Mozambique with my family.  It is located on a peninsula across from Maputo Bay.  You can either get there by boat from Maputo or from the Ponta do Ouro border (at Kosi Bay) through the Mozambique National park (this is a long and difficult journey and quite expensive to drive through the park and the route we took).  The destination is worth the trouble.  We stayed at Camp Carlos which is right on the point of the peninsula and right on the beach.  The town of Santa Maria is quite small but does have a restaurant and a small market.

We took a dhow to Inhaca Island for a day.  They also take you to great snorkelling spots.  The water is so clear that you can see the coral reefs and marine life from the boat.

I didn’t feel like dragging my camera everywhere and I took most of the pics with my Canon G12.
