Streets of Pomfret.
I visited Pomfret in the North West this week with journalist, Erika Gibson to do a story about vegetable tunnels in this town. I will post these pictures and story as soon as Beeld published it.
We also visited the orphanage run by the Emmanuel Christian Outreach and as this was my first visit to Pomfret, went on a drive through the town to get a general sense of the place.
Angolan soldiers from the 32 Battalion were settled in this area by the apartheid government. They are now shunned by the ANC government because of their involvement with old South Africa’s wars in Angola and Mozambique. Some people have describe the resident of Pomfret as living on the wrong side of history. There are very little services in this area and poverty is rife. Their future is also uncertain because the government want to relocate them.
